As the newest staff member at the Don and Verna Duncan Civic Engagement Center, I am very enthusiastic about the opportunity to contribute to the efforts of the center as a Service Learning Fellow. I am a sophomore at Central Washington University working towards double majoring in psychology and biology and completing the prerequisites to apply for medical school.

After graduating from CWU, I plan to join the Peace Corps, and then apply to either medical school or graduate school. If I decide to go to medical school, I am interested in specializing in either neurology or tropical diseases. Otherwise, if I opt to go to graduate school, I would like to do field research in ecology in tropical regions and work in animal conservation.

I enjoy writing, and I hope to be an author someday as well. I am currently certified as a yoga instructor, and I enjoy practicing it and bringing it to other people who are interested in learning the skill. Working at the Civic Engagement Center gives me the opportunity to help other students find a cause that they are passionate about and become educated and actively involved in it. Everyone has their own unique ability to make a positive contribution to society, and I am excited to help make connections between the needs of local and global populations and the people who can take the action to meet those needs.
